1. If I Stay by Gayle Forman- Now, I am sure that many of you have heard of or seen the movie that was inspired by this book, but if you haven’t already read it, it is worth it! I came upon this book a few years ago, and thought it was absolutely amazing. I even dragged my mom along with me to meet the author. This is the story of a young girl whose family takes a ride one winter day, and end up getting in a car accident. The book goes on as she has an out of body experience, and watches the rest of her family die while having to decide whether to follow them, or stay behind and continue to live.
2. Born on a Blue Day by Daniel Tammet- Over the summer before my junior year of high school, I had to read a nonfiction book. I was in the shelves looking for a different biography when this title caught my eye. I ended up picking it up as well, and absolutely loved it. This book is about the author Daniel Tammet. Tammet is a savant and in his book he explained what it was like to grow up when he thought so differently than the rest of his peers. He also explains how he thinks, such as he sees wednesdays as blue in his mind. This book is a fascinating read for anyone who likes to dive into how others think.
3. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger- I was assigned to read this book for my English class during a unit on love. And well, I fell in love with it. This is the love story of a man and a woman, but that man is a time traveler. Their love begins in her past, but his future. As the story continues, they live through various challenges that come from being in love with a person that could pop to a different time at any moment.
